2016 AAF District 3 Leadership Conference

Comrades it’s time to Rise Up. On August 12-14 leaders of AAF District 3 will proudly gather in Charlotte, NC with one message: “Take Charge.” That means all of us getting serious and taking charge as board members and committee members about our roles and responsibilities in the success and failures of each of our clubs. As always there will be much fun, much education and much vodka.

Conference Materials


Early Bird Pricing $245/per member (if paid registration is received before July 11)
Standard Pricing $275/per member
*Register and pay for 5 members and the 6th is FREE.

REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Fees include dinner on Friday and Saturday, continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday, lunch Saturday and afternoon snacks.

How to Register

Step 1. Fill out one Registration Form for each member attending the conference
Step 2. Fill out one Manifest Form for your club
Step 3. Return your completed forms and payment by July 11, 2016 to Jeremy Bise.

 What to Bring

Attire is business casual, but please feel free to be more casual for Saturday evening’s social!

Keynote Speakers

Shelley Magee
Chair, AAF Council of Governors

Shelley Magee is the Sales Manager at ABC Columbia, and has been with the company for almost 15 years. She specializes
in developing integrated marketing strategies for the station’s local clients using memorable creative that drives results. Earlier in her career, Shelley worked in both client internal marketing departments and agencies.

Shelley has been a member and leader in The American Advertising Federation for 18 years. In 2013 she was presented with The Silver Medal Award, by AAF of the Midlands. She currently serves as the National Chair of the AAF Council of Governors.


Joanne Schecter

Joanne Schecter
Executive Vice President, AAF Club Services

As executive vice president of AAF club services, she oversees the success of the 200 AAF member clubs and federations nationwide.

Schecter has extensive experience with association management and uses this background to write, manage and conduct training seminars and workshops on strategic club management. Schecter also manages the AAF club services department, which is responsible for the services and benefits available to AAF member clubs. In addition, she is the staff liaison to the AAF Council of Governors and executive directors network. She also works closely with the AAF national board of directors.

Schecter brings the member perspective to her position after first becoming involved with the AAF network over 20 years ago as an AAF member. She served on the board of directors for the Utah Advertising Federation where she was elected club president in 1988. Under her leadership, the Utah Advertising Federation was honored as the AAF Club of the Year in 1989. Schecter was subsequently named President of the Year.
