Happy New Year!
It’s about halfway through your presidential terms and a great time to reflect on your accomplishments and goals. I’ve been thrilled to hear about your successes on our calls and I’ve also heard some of you ran into some issues and roadblocks. Perhaps you’re operating with very few volunteers. Maybe you couldn’t get the financing in place for a new initiative. We’ve certainly all been there, myself included. We are all volunteers with complex career and personal lives and there just never seems to be enough time in the day. My hope is that you found ways to divide tasks more broadly and get investment in your club by adding a personal touch to your members, making them feel like they “own” a piece of your club’s success.
I want to emphasize that your District Board is here for you. We exist to advocate for you at the national level (District 3’s David Campbell is the Council of Governors Chair so you know you’re well covered!). The Council of Governors has worked hard to provide resources at AAF.org (Who We Are/Club Leader Resources). And certainly, as you review areas you may continue to struggle, I ask that you reach out and let District 3 Leaders help your club.
I’ve seen great dialogue with District 3 American Advertising Awards Chairs Melissa Harper and Ace Evans and I want to applaud their responsiveness and knowledge.
I know you’re currently in the throngs of take in day, judging and gala planning and we at District 3 are here for you.
Cheers to the new year and your continued success!
Megan Telencio
Governor, AAF District 3
